This dry deciduous or evergreen, succulent shrub forms a very thick, swollen, smooth, dark gray trunk, rarely to 5 m tall, with only a few branches, each of which holds a terminal tuft of small simple leaves and a few very pretty, bright red or pink flowers. Adenium arabicum is native to deserts in the southwestern Arabian Peninsula. It makes a stunning plant for cultivation in the drier tropics and a popular subject for pots and bonsai training.
