Armadillidium granulatum "White Pearl" Isopods are an elegant leucistic morph of the popular Mediterranean Armadillidium granulatum, prized for their stunning pearly white coloration and distinctive granulated exoskeleton. Unlike the wild form, this selectively bred morph has lost nearly all body pigmentation, resulting in a brilliant ivory-white appearance accented by contrasting black eyes. Their rough, textured armor gives them a unique matte finish that beautifully reflects light, creating the "White Pearl" effect that inspired their name. Growing up to 2–2.5 cm, they are among the larger pill bugs in the hobby and make an exceptional display species for collectors seeking a clean, sophisticated look.

Despite their premium appearance, Armadillidium granulatum "White Pearl" is a hardy and beginner-friendly species that adapts well to captivity. They thrive in a spacious enclosure with a moderate moisture gradient, good ventilation, and a deep layer of hardwood leaf litter, white rotten wood, cork bark, and calcium sources. Unlike many tropical species, they appreciate having both moist and drier areas, allowing them to regulate humidity naturally. Once established, colonies reproduce reliably and become increasingly active during both the day and evening. Their striking all-white coloration, easy husbandry, and fascinating textured exoskeleton make White Pearl Isopods an outstanding choice for display terrariums, bioactive vivariums, and premium isopod collections.

Armadillidium granulatum is a relatively low-maintenance pet, making it suitable for hobbyists interested in keeping isopods. With proper care, they can thrive in captivity and contribute to a fascinating invertebrate collection.

Culture is started with 10-12 isopods of various sizes and ages.
