A dwarf succulent native to desert areas in South Africa's Western Cape Province that forms a cluster of pairs of silvery grayish green, heavily mottled leaves fused into pebble-like structures and small, pale yellow flowers. In cultivation it does best in drier, warm temperate climates. Conophytum is adapted to sparse winter rains and is dormant in summer.
