Made from genuine bark of Acer macrophyllum, these natural hardwood pieces feature a rugged, cork-like texture that adds instant depth and character to terrariums, vivariums, isopod colonies, springtail cultures, and other bioactive habitats.
Each piece is approximately 5–6 cm (2–2.4 inches) and is completely natural, with no dyes, varnishes, or chemical treatments. Scatter the bark across the substrate to create a realistic forest floor, tuck pieces beneath plants and larger hardscape, or layer them among leaf litter, moss, seed pods, and decaying wood. Their irregular shapes help break up flat substrate and create the small crevices, shaded pockets, and textured spaces that make a bioactive enclosure look and feel more natural.
Perfect for Isopods & Springtails
Bigleaf Maple Bark Pieces are particularly well suited to isopod and springtail habitats. Pieces can be placed directly over the substrate or partially nestled into leaf litter to create additional surface area, sheltered spaces, and humid microclimates for cleanup crews to explore. The rough, irregular texture also gives a developing bioactive ecosystem plenty of natural surfaces for microorganisms and biofilm to colonize.
For reptile and amphibian terrariums, the bark makes an excellent forest-floor accent around cork, branches, plants, moss, and botanicals. Use it to add visual detail around hides, create transitions between hardscape and substrate, or simply scatter a few pieces throughout the enclosure for a less manicured, more naturally weathered appearance.
