Hardwood Bark with Live Moss & Lichens
Bring the layered beauty of a mature woodland directly into your enclosure with our Hardwood Bark with Live Moss and Lichens. Each natural piece features its own remarkable combination of rugged bark, luxuriously green living moss, and/or naturally occurring lichens in shades of soft mint, blue-grey, earthy tan, golden yellow, and warm brown. These richly textured pieces add instant age, depth, and an authentically established appearance to tropical terrariums, vivariums, bioactive reptile enclosures, and naturalistic displays.
Every patch of moss and lichen has been attached by nature herself. Nothing is artificially glued, wrapped, or placed onto the bark. The mosses, lichens, and hardwood bark are sustainably harvested from a family-owned property in Arkansas.
Every piece undergoes a thorough four-step preparation process: it is carefully washed, frozen, dried, and rehydrated. This process helps ensure the bark is clean, safe, and ready for use.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Starter pieces with live moss and/ or lichens are what is offered for sale. Taking care of them in a terrarium will allow the living mosses and lichens to grow into the lush, vibrant specimens shown in the listing. Please refer to images for before after comparisons.
Because this is a completely natural product, every piece is wonderfully unique. Bark shape, thickness, colour, texture, moss coverage, and lichen varieties will differ considerably. Some pieces may be luxuriously covered in deep-green moss, while others may showcase an especially beautiful assortment of pale foliose lichens, crustose lichens, exposed bark, or a naturally occurring combination of all three.
